Editorial Policy

How our content is made
Everything on this site is written under human editorial direction. We use AI tools to assist with drafting, outlining, and editing. The scenarios, scripts, and judgments come from the book and from Dana Whitaker's editorial direction; no post is published as it came out of a tool.
Every blog post works one real scenario in full — the message, what to send, what never to send and why, and what to do if it escalates. We do not publish thin pages, teaser stubs, or scaled variations of the same answer.
Human review before publication
A person reads every page before it goes live and again whenever it is updated. The published and updated dates shown on each page are real; when a page changes materially, the updated date changes with it.
Fact verification
Hotline numbers, organizations, and other factual claims are checked against official sources — the organization's own website or an official government listing. Pages that carry these facts show a “last verified” date. We re-check quarterly and whenever a reader reports a problem.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it on the page and log the correction there: the date, what changed, and why. We do not quietly edit. To report an error, use the contact form and choose “A correction.”
What we never do
- Claim credentials Dana does not hold. Dana Whitaker is an author, not a therapist, attorney, mediator, or coach.
- Invent experience, anecdotes, or case studies. Example messages are illustrative and are labeled as such.
- Write, buy, or curate reviews. Reader reviews appear only when they exist on the retailer's site.
- Promise outcomes. No page says a script will change your co-parent, your case, or your custody arrangement.
- Give legal or therapeutic advice. This site offers general information, not legal or therapeutic advice.
